Proverbs 10:26 Sluggard or Faithful Servant?
Nowhere does the truth of God come more obviously at odds with conventional
'wisdom' than at this point of work and service. Those who reject God's plan and premise for life (the "way") embrace as their plan for life those things which seem good to them. That is the problem with the sluggard in our text. He actually has made a god after his own imagination and in his own image. His laziness makes him "like vinegar on the teeth and smoke in the eyes."
God's plan is that we find refuge in Him. This means that the righteous are those who not only acknowledge God but trust Him by embracing his plan(s). Soon they take on the character traits of God. Their life goals, attitudes, actions and desires are increasingly like His. They seek refuge in Him and find it!
Amen - let it be so.
Shalom
