The Cross of Christ means Life

Psalm 92:1-15 God's Goodness Causes Worship

Since January of 1997 I've been working with a worship team to bring new worship forms and emphasis to a long established congregation. We began a new service and have introduced, with order and form, new songs and a new level of congregational participation. What a joy to see people learn new ways to express their joy, devotion and love for the Master!

It isn't that the old hymns are bad or that the traditional liturgies are not good. Repetition and familiarity can bring complacency. It isn't necessary for everyone to embrace new worship forms but it IS necessary for everyone to worship - genuinely, with their hearts, heads and emotions.

Notice what drives the praise and worship of the Psalmist: God's goodness! We too should have a constant awareness of God's gracious intervention in our lives for good. Even His correction and discipline is for our good and we who stand in awe of His mighty deeds worship and praise Him even in the midst of being turned from our own way unto His.

"The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him." Ps. 92:15

"Thank you Lord for Your love, grace and mercy to me. May my worship be genuine and complete. Empower me, Lord, to be wholly devoted to You."

Amen - let it be so.
Shalom
